VIOLENCE IN THE WORKPLACE
More than 30,000 people in the United States are attacked in the workplace each year. The best way to protect yourself while on the job is prevention. Be prepared:
» Report any employees who display erratic emotions, such as romantic obsession, chronic anger, overt hostility or any other threatening behavior.
» If you hear a gunshot in the workplace, immediately search for an escape route. Before turning a corner, use a mirror at an angle to make sure an armed person isn't approaching you.
» If the hallways or corridors are blocked, check the ceiling for panels that can be pushed up so you can crawl out to safety.
» If there is no escape route, take cover behind or under something that will shield you from gunfire.
