PROTECTING YOUR CHILD FROM KIDNAPPERS
In America, approximately 300 children are abducted by strangers each year. In 40% of these cases, the children don't come back alive. You must raise your kids to be confident and aware so that they can ward off this kind of crisis. Be prepared:
» Tell your children to walk with friends or family whenever possible and to look out for each other.
» Tell your youngsters to try to get other people's attention if someone attempts to abduct them. They should immediately yell "Help!" or "Fire!" as loud as possible.
» Teach your kids how to resist a kidnapper, such as by biting the abductor or, if trapped in a car, pounding the car horn, tossing the abductor's car keys or shoving something into the ignition.
