Together these women — whose lifelong relationship was first forged as children growing up in Alabama during the height of the Civil Rights Movement — face the ups and downs of everyday life, drawing strength from each other to deal with a world filled with laughter, tears and the very different lives they've chosen.

Annie Potts' portrayal of Mary Elizabeth Sims, a white career woman and mother, has won her multiple SAG Award Nominations. Lorraine Toussaint's work as Rene Jackson, a single and successful African American attorney, has brought her a 1999 NAACP award for being a positive role model. Any Day Now has also won the YWCA Racial Justice Corporate Award.
